Proof I Use My Craft Room, Plus Art!

I got to dust off my sewing machine and help out my friends with their art show by sewing a movie screen. Here is photographic evidence that I know how to sew, which is almost as good as having things that I have sewn.

It's more than a place for my cats to nap

More important than my seamstress-itude, though, was that the screen is for Matt and Manna's art show, which is up at Dexterity Salon through the end of the month.

They coordinated her work (photography) and his work (film) in a way that you you just have to see. Here's a sample on their postcard, but I'm telling you, stop by the salon to see -- or get a holiday cut-and-color, so you can really spend some time looking.

The End of Throwing up Something to Wear

edina in lacroix Pictures, Images and Photos

via BBC News
Luxury brand Christian Lacroix is to cut most of its staff and close its main clothing design business after a court approved a restructuring plan. The French fashion house will shed 100 staff, leaving just 11 employees to manage its accessories and perfumes. The firm entered administration in June, after being hit by falling sales, and has failed to find a buyer. However, prospective buyers for Lacroix can still negotiate directly with its owners - Florida's Falic Group. Gulf investor Hassan bin Ali al-Nuaimi and France's Bernard Krief Consulting both indicated interest in buying the firm, but missed a deadline to provide financial guarantees. The company's lawyer, Simon Tahar, said: "The court rejected all the plans that were proposed by the different buyers and retained the plan to continue the company that was proposed by the current shareholders." Lacroix lost 10m euros ($14.9m; £9.1m) in 2008 with sales worth 30m euros.

Gentleman from Paris

I love this photo from the Sartorialist, mostly because I like to imagine this man's apartment in Paris: piles of old books that smell like cigars, full ashtrays and empty bottles of gin, art that's worth more than my whole house, and at least two smelly dogs.
